First Presbyterian Church invites you to become a part of a garden project on the front lawn of the church at 35 State Street, in the Village of Brockport. We envision this as a Community Garden with which we will seek the abundant life Jesus wished for us, a life of wholeness; nourished and healthy from wholesome food and community relationships!
Calling all green thumbs! PLANTING DAY IS MAY 30 2015 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Bring your knee pads and trowel, we will provide the plants, soil and fun!! Come and help make this Community Garden a huge success.
Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.”
Genesis 1:29

Members of First Presbyterian started talking about the demonstration gardens and information about “food justice” the center introduced to us. So when we returned to Brockport, we did some looking and thinking. We live in a rural area, but recognize the increasing volume of traffic at our ecumenical food shelf nearby. We have a significant number of children on subsidized meals in our school system, and recognize that healthy food choices can be a challenging part of family budgets. So, starting with the jump-start of awareness provided by Stony Point Center, we have envisioned using the church lawns as a place to grow vegetables and raise awareness. This garden will not solve all of our communities' problems, but it is a very fulfilling step (in addition to others)toward community health in a whole sense.
This garden was constructed in the spring of 2012 with the help of local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
Please visit the rest of this site for information about Food Justice and ways you can grow and use your own vegetables. We would also love to hear your stories of gardening and good nutrition!
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good.
